Molecular Distillation:
Molecular distillation process is a special liquid-liquid separation technology. Compared with traditional separation technology, it has the following advantages:
1. The process operation temperature is low (much lower than the boiling point), the vacuum degree is high, the heating time is short, and the separation efficiency is high, especially suitable for the separation of high boiling point, heat sensitivity and easily oxidizable substances;
2. The process separation process can effectively remove low molecular substances (decolorization), heavy molecular substances (deodorization) and remove impurities in the mixture;
3. The technological separation process is a physical separation process, which can completely separate the light and heavy components, especially the original quality of the natural extract can be maintained.
Unlike traditional distillation, which relies on the separation principle of boiling point difference, molecular distillation is a distillation method that operates under high vacuum, and uses the difference in the mean free path of molecular motion of different substances to achieve separation. The free path of molecular motion refers to the distance traveled by a molecule between two adjacent collisions. The average free path of the vapor molecules of the mixed liquid is greater than the distance between the evaporation surface and the condensation surface. Using the evaporation rate of each component in the mixed liquid. Difference, the separation of liquid mixtures, molecular stills are also known as short path stills.
How a molecular still works:
When the liquid mixture flows along the wall of the heating cylinder and is heated, the molecules of light and heavy components will overflow the liquid surface and enter the gas phase. Due to the different degrees of freedom of the molecules of light and heavy components, the molecules of different components will move at different distances after escaping from the liquid surface. If a condensation surface is properly set, the light component molecules will be condensed and discharged when they reach the condensation wall surface, while the heavy component molecules will not reach the condensation plate and be discharged along the mixed liquid. In this way, the purpose of material separation is achieved.
